Granted, nothing can be perfect especially in a Film, but if they rendered it knowing he has the Hollow Impact blade in the off hand. why would they then render rest of the First Sword with the Hollow blade still atached to the main assembley.

my theroy is that during the sequence square knew Cloud needed a second sword because of falling debrie..one weapon is not going to do the job, so when he does detache it to use though the sword doesnt look as stream line as it did before so square put it back on so the First looked stream lined again what do ya think ?

Re: FF7:AC Talk: Cloud Strife's 6 Piece Sword in FF7:AC

The problem is that they were on a schedule and a budget. That, and Nomura came in part-way. There had already been some work done, and then the storyboard changed drastically. However, they wanted to reuse whatever they could. There are a number of different models used for the various swords, and the gestalt sword in its various stages, because they didn't have the time or money to go back, replace older versions of the models with newer ones, and re-render those scenes. So they cut it all together, and crossed their fingers, hoping that nobody would notice, or that they'd just overlook the inconsistencies.

The technology changed drastically over the course of production. Just look at the pre-rendered CG in Dirge of Cerberus, or the video clips of the upcoming FF games for the PS3. What took them hours or days to render for AC could probably be rendered in real-time on the PS3.

As Jerzi said, the movie wasn't modeled, animated, and rendered start to finish. They pick scenes, assign them to project groups, and they work as fast as they can. The exact designs of the swords, how they would fit together, and what it all would look like weren't worked out in advance, or at least what they did work out wasn't the same as what they went with in the end.

Raven has a good deal of the information covered in his article, and I wrote up a detailed post earlier in this thread documenting the discrepancies in the swords. If I could find the time, I'd go through and explain it more fully, identifying which models were used in which scenes, and then I could make guesses about the production order, but the short answer is that the worst model is used throughout a lot of the scenes, and there doesn't seem to be a complete model that actually works, for reasons described by other members in this thread.

Pulling #2 out of the gestalt seemed like something they pretty much thought up on the spot, because he cuts through the hinge when he does it. They didn't plan for it to be possible.

As the title of the thread implies, roberto, Cloud has a total of six swords. Earlier on in the thread, another member, NeoZero, posted up a quick rendering of all six swords and quickly made a diagram of how they all fit together. I will be uploading that image shortly.

If you would like to learn more about the all the different swords Cloud uses, please read through the thread.

Re: FF7:AC Talk: Cloud Strife's 6 Piece Sword in FF7:AC

First of all, that diagram is as complete as it will be, roberto. Not only does it contain all of the swords, it also shows you how they all fit together to form the finished product.

While fighting Bahamut-Sin, Cloud has not three but four swords in his possession. If you look at the diagram, I'll explain how that is the case.

The main one Cloud is holding is, in fact, sword #1 and sword #2 combined together. The saw-type swords you mention are sword #3 and sword #4. During the battle with Bahamut-Sin (the dragon), he's holding the combined #1 and #2 in one hand while holding one of the saw-types in the other. The other saw-type is in the holster on his back.

The other two swords are #5 and #6. Their handles fold back in order to fit into the finished sword.

So to conclude, there are a total of six swords that can be combined together to form one big one.

    Any more questions?

Addendum: I think I understand why you believe there are missing swords, roberto.

Swords #3 and #4, when combined with the main sword, are on opposite sides of each other. One goes on the left side while the other goes on the right side. The same principle applies to sword #5 and #6.

Re: FF7:AC Talk: Cloud Strife's 6 Piece Sword in FF7:AC

That is actually a very good question to which I currently do not have an answer to. It has been a long while since I have visited FF7ACMovie, where the report is hosted.

I have already dispatched an email to the administrator. Depending on when he receives the email, I may or may not get an answer tonight.

I will keep everybody updated when I get more news concerning the matter.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    UPDATE:
Some of the administrative functions are bugged, requiring some time to be fixed. Actually, we need to isolate the exact causes for each bug so it will take a while.

There is currently no estimate for the downtime. Given the staff's busy schedule, we will try to expedite repairs but it will be some time before the website is operational again.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    A Missing Sword

Hey Guys im new here, im a final fantasy 7 finatic and i was wondering are these swords pics drawn from the creators of final fantasy AC? Cuz i have been watching the movie over and over again and it seems to me, this is my opinion, that there is a sword missing? o.O is it just my imagination or is it true, the grooved edge sword, on the back side of it were it connects, there is 2 of them. U can see it when cloud fights bahamut, he starts off with the 2 swords, he puts 2 of them in his sheeth and takes one out when he first fights, then connects the first one, then when he jumps up to finish bahamut he pulls another sword that looks the same and connects it? Watch it again and tell me what u guys think, because in my opinion there should be 7 sevens swords for final fantasy 7: Advent Children.

    Re: A Missing Sword

FXCloudo, if you go to the first page of this thread and look at the tenth post, NeoZero has posted a picture that shows every single sword Cloud actually used in the movie.

I have watched the movie several times myself and can only count six swords in total. If you still feel that a sword is missing, could you please post more details about it? Thanks.

Re: FF7:AC Talk: Cloud Strife's 6 Piece Sword in FF7:AC

Raven 237, thanks so much for the link! The other link hadn't been working for me and your article was very well done. I also spotted the blooper where the hollow blade was switched with #3 or #4 when Cloud fell off of Fenrir. I didn't notice that all of Cloud's companions had pink ribbons. Does anyone know what that might signify? The 3-d renderings that Rage666 posted a link to also were awesome.http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?t=287117
Raven 237, from the movie, it looks like Cloud slides something to attach the hollow sword to his main sword right before he jumps to fight Kadaj after fighting Loz and Yazoo. I also saw it when he was flying up to fight the dragon. Also, does Cloud twist the handle to expand his main blade? I didn't see him do it in the movie, but I wasn't watching the handle all that closely.

Re: FF7:AC Talk: Cloud Strife's 6 Piece Sword in FF7:AC

The pink ribbons are for Aeris or rather, as a sign that they're still grieving for Aeris. That's what I was able to gather but please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As for twisting the handle for the main sword, I believe he does do it. I remember someone on the forums going through great pains to research that and even illustrated how it actually worked. By twisting the handle, it also opened up the blade guard. That, in turn, allowed him to slot and slide the other swords into place.

    I hope that helps.

    Wedding photos?

You should probably check out the credentials of this individual. A good wedding photographer is worth their weight in gold.

It's the difference between capturing the day in both formal and reportage format in less than a hundred pictures. This is one of the most important days of your life, and you will probably never want to view 600 to 800 photos when 10's of photos will capture the most important aspects of the day.

Always go to a few professionals and compare their styles from previous work samples. Choose one that consistently produces the pictures you would like to look at time and time again.

A poor photographer will not give you the memories you deserve, so choose carefully.

This is not to say the photographer mentioned does not produce good work, but check first...

All the best for the big day.

    :o)
