    nib pens

just bought some nibs & holders today, and was wondering if anyone else uses them or knows anything about them?

tried it on drawing paper, but that doesn't seem to be the right kind of paper...

    Re: nib pens

I use fountain pens when I feel like doing calligraphy things, and have used nibs and handles type too in art class. They load best with a brush by the way...just load the brush, and pretend you're scraping the ink off on the edge of the nib until the reservoir (the little brass thingy that slips onto the back of the nib...if you don't have these, yell at whoever you bought them from, or check out an art supply store for them. They're cheap, and they keep you from having to reload the pen after every letter.) is full, or at least the round hole on the front of the pen has a bubble of ink across it....You should see very little or no airspace between nib and reservoir. The paper does have to be the smooth type or the fibers will catch on the edges of the nib. If you use watercolor paper, use hot pressed...the finish is smoother.

We'll have to keep Meowwl in mind for the next time we have questions about nib pens.

Actually... I should look into some of these old drawers in the house. I think I saw some the last time we did a spring cleaning.
